Chéngdū ( also pronounced as Ch'eng-tu ) is a sub- provincial city and the capital of Sichuan province in China. It is located in the southwest of People's Republic of China. Chengdu is an importang city in the western part of China as far as the economics activities, transportation and a communication hub to this part of China is concerned. Economically Chengdu is considered to be one of the best places for investment according to 2007's Public Appraisal for Best Chinese Cities for Investment pitted against other 280 other economic centres and cities across China.

This city that boasts the motto of "Harmony and Tolerance, Wisdom and Integrity, Truth-seeking and Innovation" also has its own nickname "Roncheng" or The Hibiscus City owing to the abundance of the flowers evidently found almost everywhere through out the city and beyond. It is also the home to the Sichuan's administrative node which is located in Qingyang District where it governs 9 districts, 4 county-level cities, 6 counties headed by Chief Li Chuncheng. The city's own mayor is Mayor Ge Honglin who runs the affairs of its 11,000,670 citizens mostly of ethnic Han.
Chengdu has a history of more than four thousand years, during the prehistorical Bronze Age a culture of Jinsha established itself in this region. The fertile Chengdu Plain, on which Chengdu is located, is called Tianfuzhi Guo in Chinese, which literally means "the country of heaven", or more often seen translated as "the Land of Abundance". It was recently named China's 4th-most livable city by China Daily.
Most importantly to the outside world is the fact that Chengdu is the main entrance to one of the world's most precious jewels the Jiuzhaigou. Praised by some as a piece of heaven on earth, this holiday heaven is gaining more and more popularity among the world's tourist seeking to discover its magical beauty first hand. Apart of that Chengdu is also the home to the giant wonderful creature the panda. Tourist can help themselves familiarise with the animal in the Panda Santuary located within the city by joining various programs provided by the sanctuary apart of just a normal sight seeing visit to the place.
